Points distributorsWhether you are a car enthusiast or just know how to turn the key in the ignition, understanding some of the inner workings of your car is just as important as how it looks on the outside. No, its not necessary to know every intricate detail about your car nor do you need to know how to put an entire engine back together, but gaining a bit of knowledge - piece by piece - will give you the best chance at having your car long term with top performance every time. Distributors is the main focus here where you will understand the importance of electronic distributors as well as knowing the difference between the brand name distributors and how they can give your car the best performance. When you place your key into the ignition, the electricity from the battery and fuel coming from the injectors create enough high voltage that goes to the distributor and gets routed to the spark plugs. This is definitely not a haphazard event. Here timing is everything! The spark plugs must be fired in the correct order at the correct time for the car to run smoothly. However, over time, these mechanical parts, caps and rotors, which help spin the distributor to reach the spark plugs, will break or water may enter the distributor causing misfiring which could ultimately cause your car not to start. Performance distributorElectronic distributors are built with less mechanical parts and offer a direct system of sending the needed voltage to the spark plugs. Some more direct systems allow each spark plug to receive its own coil which means less misfiring and better fuel efficiency. This is typical of an electronic distributor such as fast road distributor or a performance distributor which rely on precise timing, especially when the firing order is so essential at such high speeds. Most cars today use this direct system as well as a distributor less system which replaces the distributor with a coil pack that goes directly to the spark plug, eliminating the need for distributors. The disadvantage here however is if one of the coils get worn or just stops working, then you have to replace the entire coil pack. There are some that allow you to replace the coils easily and individually. This is a true advantage and although initially more expensive, ultimately does save you money when you not need to replace one or two coils. If you are looking for an electronic distributor for your high performance vehicle, a great performance distributor would be either an MGB distributor or a Triumph distributor. This fast road distributor can not only provide you with quick ignition start up, but can also give you better performance on the road and smooth idling. This saves unnecessary wear and tear on your car and provides better fuel efficiency depending on how fast you go. Another vehicle specific distributor is the Mini distributor for the Mini Cooper. Triumph distributorThe MG (Morris Garages) B series is a sports car which originated in England and has evolved from almost a century of development from reaching zero to sixty miles per hour to being one of the top racing cars today. The MGB distributor has also evolved as the engine and electrical systems changed. If you are looking to replace your distributor or upgrade your classic, be sure to check with a specialist first. The Triumph was a British classic which is currently owned by BMW. These cars were built to endure time and the elements. There are still parts available to either simply replace damaged Triumph distributor caps or to upgrade your classic. The Mini Cooper, also currently owned by BMW, was an extremely popular subcompact during the late 50s and regained its worldwide status during the turn of the century. The beautiful Charlize Theron from The Italian Job (2003) gave the Mini a whole new image of being fast and sexy. Today, these compacts have gained value and are well known as a solid and well-built driving machine. There is a Mini distributor that allows you to easily replace or upgrade you Mini classic. The current models have distributor less systems which add to the original concept of being a fuel efficient vehicle. Any car can greatly benefit from having and maintaining a solid ignition system. The key is being aware of how your car is running. Regular checkups are also essential and can make the difference between owning a car for a few years or keeping a classic for a lifetime.
